Abortion and Medicaid, Ukrainian Catholic Scholarship, 'Awe' of the Nicene Creed
Gina Christian of OSV News catches you up on the Catholic news of the day for April 3, 2025. In this episode: The Supreme Court hears oral argument in a case that could determine if Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, can use public funds in states that have restricted abortion. The Catholic Church has since the first century affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion, and holds that life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. The Archdiocese of Chicago files a countersuit against seven individuals who allegedly conspired to file fraudulent clergy sex abuse claims for financial gain. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima in Portugal has confirmed it will not remove mosaics by alleged abuser and former Jesuit Father Marko Rupnik, but has suspended using the priest's artwork in promotional materials. A Ukrainian Catholic University scholarship honors a student killed along with most of her family by a Russian missile, announcing the news a day before what would have been her 19th birthday. The International Theological Commission says Christians should not see the Nicene Creed simply as a list of things they believe, but rather regard it with awe, because it recounts the greatness of God's love and His gift of salvation.
