Eucharistic Pilgrimage Protests, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Beatboxing Nuns
Gina Christian of OSV News catches you up on the Catholic news of the day for June 3, 2025. In this episode: Catholics are being urged to attend National Eucharistic Pilgrimage events in large numbers as anti-Catholic protests grow along the 3,340-mile St. Katharine Drexel Route. For Catholics, June is traditionally the month devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Pope Leo XIV's prayer intention for June is "that the world might grow in compassion." As the first U.S.-born pope, Pope Leo XIV, may bring unique insight to the problem of polarization in the U.S. and in the U.S. church, analysts told OSV News. Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila of Denver expressed sorrow and pleaded for peace following a June 1 attack on peaceful protestors in Boulder, Colorado who were calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. Two Brazilian nuns have created a worldwide sensation after a May 28 video showed them beatboxing and dancing hip hop on Catholic TV -- drawing comparisons to a real-life "Sister Act."
