- Senate Republicans passed their version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Catholic bishops have criticized for provisions they called "unconscionable."
- Children are among those who bear "the heaviest toll" in the global rise of armed conflict and "the increasing acceptance of force as a means of resolving disputes," a Vatican diplomat told the United Nations.
- Amid Russia's war on Ukraine, the faith of Ukrainians is being "sorely tested," but God "will have the last word, and life will conquer death," said Pope Leo XIV.
